  1. Data’s first line here, “Judging a being by its physical appearance is the last major human prejudice,” will always makes me smile because of all the clone-killing in the prior episode.

It’s always nice to see the ‘earthlings seduce alien women’ trope subverted. That “WOOOOO” in the podcast’s background was superbly timed.

“Angel One” was kind of ham-handed last season, so it’s nice to see a different take. Besides Luxwana in the role of an influential Hollywood producer, there’s also Riker gossiping with Helm and Ops, and that camera pan down Picard’s calves instead of down a female extra’s. They could’ve made the message more pointed but I think the execution is at least a step up from season one. I have to wonder how much is modeled on people’s direct experiences… her wedding announcement is obviously over the line, but her baseline harassment is something that at least some people take in good fun. I think she’s shown (though perhaps not in this ep) the grace and telepathic capacity to recalibrate when she switches targets.

I can’t fault Luxwana for being tricked by the holodeck; even the Enterprise has only had realistic characters for about a year.
